My main user of the app is audio. The audio playlist has a mind of its own. Keeps going back to articles I've listened before. I can only reliably listen to what I want to one article at a time. Doubly frustrating when a) there's been a massive app makeover, did anyone test this bit and b) I'm listening to fabulous technical content but failing as a result of poorly implemented technology. Oh, and which UI designer suggested putting history above what's next? Check out the Economist app.

This gets three stars because it does work, and the content is good. But there are so many quality-of-life improvements that could be made to the app. Just off the top of my head: * synchronise saved articles across devices (sometimes I read on my phone, sometimes on my tablet), * remember what article and where in it I got to and go straight there next time I open it (sync between devices, too) * let me mark issues as read so that when catching up on older ones I've missed I know what I've read

Works really well and more pleasant to use than the mobile site on a phone screen. Only issue, and why I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it doesn't register the URL in the system. Clicking on New Scientist urls should automatically open them in the app (like, as an example, the Guardian app)
