It's an alright idle game. The character designs are eye catching, which is a plus. Some of the characters have skills which are a bit of a pain to understand compared to characters from when the game just came out - I understand the need for new mechanics now and again, but I wish the information was more simplified. Also, if you're thinking about playing competitively without spending cash, keep in mind that you should compete against the non-spenders. Overall a fun game.

The difference between Classic and Companions is confusing, especially for a new player. Companions is newer and what the game defaults to for new installs, but - while it has many QoL improvements - it has far less content. Classic is the original game with all the numerous heros and crossovers, but paid MTX are separate between the two.

I've played Afk Arena for years and it's been really fun. But recently, they've been adding more and more content that is really time-consuming, is complicated and requires a lot of research, or just feels impossible to keep up with (especially the ghoulish gallery!). The "afk" part of the title is misleading at this point, and many parts of the game just feel like an exhausting chore. I decided to finally just quit the game, even if it's a pity after so many years.
