-----------------------

What’s Braille?

Braille is a system of touch reading and writing for visually impaired people, in which raised dots represent the letters of the alphabet, numbers, punctuation marks, special symbols and so on. It is named after its creator, Louis Braille, a Frenchman who lost his sight in his childhood and later developed a code for the French alphabet. These characters have rectangular blocks called cells which have tiny bumps called raised dots. The number and arrangement of these dots distinguish one character from another.

-----------------------

What’s Braille Academy?

Braille Academy is developed to help those who are curious about and interested in learning the Braille system. The two key teaching concepts are gradual introduction and focused repetition. The learning material is categorized into chapters and then levels to ensure efficient learning and training. If you are not particularly interested in Braille but in training and improving your memory in general, Braille Academy is also a useful tool.

-----------------------

Levels and challenges?

In short, a level focuses on introducing new characters with a small amount of repetition while a challenge trains what you’ve learnt already. In a level, you can click the INFO BUTTON (on the left) to read some TIPS and the hint button (on the right) to see the correct answer. The hints are infinite and always free. In a challenge, you can’t use the hint button anymore and you must make less than 3 mistakes to pass it.

In conclusion, I wish you a lot of success and a lot of fun in learning Braille!

Yeaaa... Just learned the entire braille alphabet for free in less than an hour. This is great! I paid the 5 bucks for the remaining lessons just out of gratitude. The app is super simple but the UI and the way they coded the repitition is dialed in just right. They introduce the letters in groups of 2 that make sense based on the shape; and my pattern recognition kicked in real quick. I aced the challenges first try on at least 3.

Super useful. I essentially memorized the alphabet in a few days. I wish there was a practice mode once you reached the later premium chapters though. Learning punctuation and contractions is fine, but I want it mixed in with everything else I know eventually. Otherwise, what's the point in learning words of one chapter if I can easily revisit it again? I don't think it's useful long term to only recall words within a group, but not outside it. I hope what I said made sense 😅

It is good and I'm picking up the letters quite quick. The only problem is that it's visual, I don't think I'll be able to read it with the letters so close together irl. I think I'd be be able to look at it and be able to elk what it is but it's harder without being able to touch it as you go. Obvs not a problem with this app so I recommend getitng a brail book to help
