2025-Jan: better at sync between desktop and phone, but still needs work. Good first step. Going back to K9Mail for now since I can't get the android and desktop apps to sync with each other and don't have time to plow through the trouble ticket list to see if there's a fix. Will check back in a few months. Look forward to eventually converting to "just Thunderbird" but for now I need a solution that just works, and that's Windows Thunderbird and Android K9Mail.

It's possible you may need to set your app to delete messages from the server as well as your phone. To delete messages from the server when you delete them from the app, in Settings > [Account] > Fetching Mail, enable 'Sync server deletions,' as discussed here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1473053

Fairly easy import from the desktop (but why do I need to scan two QR codes). Tried a global search, but that simply does not work at all. To me, an e-mail application with no decent search across all mailboxes is pretty useless. I appreciate the response but a) that search from my unified inbox does not give me the results (compared to the same search from my desktop Thunderbird where this works) and b) when I am in an inbox and select the three dots, no such option to "search everywhere"

Unfortunately, QR codes can only hold the data for 3 accounts, which is why some people need multiple codes.
If you search in the Unified Inbox, this should search all your inboxes. If you search in a single inbox view, you can change this to search across all accounts by tapping the 3 dot menu then 'Search Everywhere.' We hope this helps!

Great app that's finally got me off gmail. I really like the UI, it's quick, responsive and is simple to use (although a few settings, like notifications, need reworking). Basically just a FOSS equivalent to Gmail, with a few improvements like push notifications for non-gmail accounts.
