The old version had a possibility to type answers, long ago it even was a requirement. Please bring this back. Too many useful features are being moved to Super. Want to train the words? Pay. Want to do the 2nd level of your lessons? Pay. Want to be able to make mistakes and learn from them? Pay! Pay pay pay pay pay. No cash, no learning. So ok, let's pay. €8 per month? Ok, that's doable... But wait, there's a catch: You can only pay for a whole year in advance! Again, in old versions...

Nice simple way to build some extra vocabulary, but mainly aimed at recognizing the right words from multiple options, which will not help you much in forming the active vocabulary you'll need for conversations. Would get a star more from me if it didn't have the annoying intro and outtro's for the listening exercises like Lucy's listening. They add nothing to learning, take too long and are really childish: duolingo, please add the option to skip these (iso the entire exercise)!

Having used Duolingo for over 8 years, I've always been very enthusiastic about the app. However, the latest changes in the app make it so that you can no longer properly practice what you've already learned - you are forced to move forward in the course. This gives the learner no opportunity to consolidate learned knowledge and forces them to venture into new learning material even if they don't yet feel comfortable with the current material. I feel this causes a very problematic situation.
