About this game

Box Office Sim is a business sim game in which you manage your own movie studio.

Start as a small independent film studio and see if you have what it takes to rise through the ranks and become one of the few Major film studios.

Create your own scripts, or buy existing spec scripts off the market, then cast and negotiate cast contracts. Set opportune release dates and run marketing campaigns, for the best possible opening weekend.

Make the best quality movies that you can and see if you can earn the top prize at yearly award shows.

Bid on and win completed movies, ready for distribution, at bi-annual film festivals.

See if you have what it takes to move up the ranks, starting from making low budget indie films, to making multi-movie franchises and blockbusters.

This is the BEST movie maker sim I've ever tried. But there are a few compromises in it too, 1st of all, the AI is unbearably dumb. The names of the movies they make are so cringy and pointless (like "Decayed Resource Is Somber"). And also, it would've been cooler if there was a feature to make series too (maybe make another game with same gameplay and style but you could make seasons instead). Overall I give it a solid 6/10. I heard there's gonna be a sequel to this one, already so excited. :))

Update- To get this game to work you have to turn off your wifi which is dumb. Now that I got it to play it's OK. Hopefully they add more options. For example selling scripts, picking locations, and better negotiations with writers, directors, and actors. Games closes as soon as you open it. Even when you get an option for feedback that closes. Game is flawed.

I like the concept. It would be better if you can control the length of release time (4-8 Weeks), have producers, have visual effects settings, more intricate screentime (maybe 15min intervals), better age reach, actor training, age sorting, scheduled filming and casting, and maybe we can sign writers, actors and directors on contracts (with contract lengths) that would make them exclusive to the studio. There is a bug on the salary update. You might also improve the navigation.
