Ignore those 1-star reviews they are all made 2 years ago... This is a 5-star game, you can play at your own pace. You can either play it safe with slow progress, or try to take risks with high returns but higher risk too. Once you know how to 'play safely' you can't lose. Many gems are required, very grindy. Problems: Many mechanics lack detailed explanations. Mercenaries lacks balancing with solo skills being just better than party skills, not requiring synergies. Imo.

Don't judge this book by its cover. It's got a unique concept and is very engaging. It has a lot of clever ideas that fit within its in-built universe (rival lenders are the most aggravating yet satisfying ones). One of the things I like most is that I can just quickly play for a day of game time (2 min real time) and still make meaningful progress.

I really enjoyed this game, it has a lot of different aspects to keep it interesting, it requires some strategy but not enough to make it boring or less entertaining, and it's very original and creative. The details are wonderful, from the different activities you can do to the synergies you can achieve by using combinations of warriors and warrior types. The art is lovely as well and it offers ads for free things but they have a small presence and don't distract from the game. Great game, 5/5.
