An Australian Government mobile application that you can use to lodge an Australian Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) application. The ETA allows eligible passport holders to travel to Australia for short-term stays for tourism or business visitor purposes. This app is easy to use with some preparation. After rebooting the phone and only loading this app, my husband then allowed all required permissions this app needs to work successfully. Next, he provided shade so there wasn’t glare for the camera to scan the passport page. For the chip scan, he scanned the page with printed information. For the picture, he stood next to me and moved the camera where needed. The rest of the process was successful, but this app is a memory hog. It runs slowly.

I would be in middle of chip scan and it would repeatedly crash. During photo, it gave no guidance like "move closer." It had to be approximately 6 inches from nose, which is not normal. Took an hour to do what should take 10 minutes.

Takes a compliant picture, then says it is low quality, try again. Over and over again. I have a Google pixel 8 with currently best in class camera in a well lit room. Pretty sure the problem is the ETA app and system.
