It was the best app when it came to listening too a wide variety of audiobook types. It's got a simple and intuitive user interface and is not bloated with random features. Unfortunately, since the most recent update the app has stopped automatically marking audio books as completed when driver listening to them. They all forever remain stuck at 99% until the user manually marks them as complete.

There are plenty of great audiobook apps out there, with useful features, no ads, and are feature complete without having to pay. PlayBook also has all of these things, but it is elevated further by the consideration that has clearly gone into its UX. The UI is beautifully designed with a modern aesthetic and smooth animations. Well thought-out gestures and the customisable elements of the UI is what, for me, gives PlayBook the edge over other apps in the category.

The only downfall I see is there is no bookmark button if you fall asleep while it plays or accidently leave it playing you can't just easily go back to a bookmarked spot... also if you have it chaptered or not just one long track you have no back or forward buttons besides the ones that go forward and back 60 sec.
