TED talks are awesome! But this app does not do them justice. All the things people are saying in the 2-star reviews and lower about the technical issues are true. Additionally it also can't properly sort my downloads and my history. The history can't be sorted at all, but the usual sorting would normaly be something of latest viewing on top, or bottom. None of that with this app! It's alphabetized! Really unhelpful! :) Now my downloads. One of the sorting possibilities is 'date added'. But whatever this does, it doesn't add my latest downloads on top (or bottom). And if I click one and go back, the sorting just rearranges itself! If you select 'by type' then all it does is sort it alphabetically and puts the type 'Talks' on top. There are no other types that I can see. So this is just the same as sorting by 'title' except that it has the word 'Talks' above them. Now the thing is why I gave a 2 star: this app has been around for ages! It also has received multiple updates. When that happens, I'm always afraid that I suddenly lose my download list (have 100+ downloads so that sucks). Or maybe that it gets cut in half somehow (one day started the app, 43 were left. Couple days later: all were back...). I still use this app almost every day (I walk 20 flights of stairs and watch a (part of) talk then). But man does it suck. Also, it appears to need internet a lot, even while I've downloaded the talks. It can't seem to load them when my connection is down (which when I walk into the staircase happens a lot). Also: I've got the setting on download on Full HD --> but a lot of talks are still low resolution. They do exist in full HD though, I've checked it on the desktop browser. All these are kinks that should have worked out ages ago, shame on you TED!

Dear TED, i'd like to do 2 feature requests hereby for a like button in your player. 1. Please make your app open-source and available on F-Droid! Really fits well with your goals as an organization. 2. it is possible to like videos in the screen that you get when you look them up or select them from Discovery, but there is not a like button in the player itself. THis is problematic as a user, because often I play lists, or just let the player run to the next video. That is when you discover interesting new talks that you might want to like. But at that moment, it is not possible to like them, because there is not a like button in the player! The only workaround is to then do a search for the title of that video, find it, and then like it. But that is way too cumbersome to be practical. alright, hope this helps in improving your app,

The 'new' app is a huge step down in functionality to the previous one. We have lost Chromecast functionality for example, scrolling was bugged, I can no longer access my liked talks and my list from my phone, have to use the website for that. Nice that we have light/dark mode but not being able to let it follow system theme is headscratcher for me. A lot of other smaller things are similarly simplified. The Chromecast functionality loss by itself has essentially ended my usage of this app.
