This is the training version of EU Carrier Interface.
EU Carrier Interface is the business application dedicated to the verification of Third-Country Nationals (TCN) departing to the Schengen area by air, sea and international carriers transporting groups overland by coach.
There are two main regulations that are applicable for all carriers to verify whether the Third-Country National is eligible to travel to the Schengen area:
1. The Entry/Exit System (EES) regulations, establishing the EES to register an entry and exit data and refusal of entry data of the TCN crossing the borders of the Schengen area.
2. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) regulations, setting out the rules for establishing the ETIAS in order to record, store and update the information on the validity of the travel authorisation.
To comply with EES regulations, carriers have to check whether the TCN is holding a valid short-stay visa issued for one or two entries and if the TCN has already used the number of entries authorised by the visa, by providing the data contained in the travel document.
To comply with ETIAS regulations, carriers have to check whether the travel authorisation of the TCN is valid, by providing the data contained in the travel document.
