About this app

Manage your adult Oyster and contactless cards on the move with the app.

• Top up pay as you go credit
• Buy adult rate 7 Day, Monthly and Annual Travelcards, and Bus & Tram Passes
• View your Oyster card and contactless journey history
• Check contactless payments
• Check your pay as you go balance and see season tickets
• Check if you have any incomplete journeys
• Allow notifications when your pay as you go balance falls below a certain amount, or your Travelcard is about to expire

When you top up your credit or buy a Travelcard or Bus & Tram Pass, it will be available to collect after 30 minutes when you touch your Oyster card on a yellow card reader as part of a journey on any London bus, or at any Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail or National Rail station within the pay as you go area, tram stop or River Bus pier.

Keeping on top of your spend is easy; see the date, time and cost of your journeys from the last 8 weeks.

Customers who have not already added their contactless card to an online account can do so at contactless.tfl.gov.uk.

The TfL Oyster and contactless app will request access to your camera. This is so that you can scan your payment card. We will never store the scanned pictures. Alternatively you can enter the card details manually.

You can’t currently add Oyster photocards to this app.
You can’t currently buy discounted tickets through the app.

For security reasons TfL Oyster app is not supported on rooted devices.

Well, TFL have managed to get even worse. I'm having the same issues as everyone regarding the app since the hack. But now, I can't get a full refund because the "system isn't working properly at the moment. Please call again in a week". All I did was tap in and out at the same station due all trains being cancelled. The time gap was 40 minutes and I was charged 2 x £9.80. All I've received is £3.60 auto refund. The rest? Well, TFL get to keep it until they decide to let me have my money back!!!

Due to the cyber security incident, we’re currently unable to show contactless cards or journey history in-app or on our website. You can continue to travel using your contactless cards. We're also unable to process payments in-app, although you can use the TfL website or stations.

Unable to turn app notifications on. It takes me to the Samsung app settings where the Notification toggle is off ('Blocked') and says, "all notifications from this app are blocked". I am unable to switch this toggle ON and receive app-related notifications. Very disappointing! Edit: 29/10/2024 app update....the notification issue STILL has not been fixed despite the change log saying issues reported by users have been fixed. Lies!

Something is wrong. I used to be able to check my journey and payment history on my contactless but now I just get the spinning circle of doom on each of the screens :( I uninstalled and reinstalled and was unable to add my contactless, a message on the website says it's down due to cybersecurity. I hope it's fixed soon.

Hi Finn, due to the cyber security incident, we’re currently unable to show contactless cards or journey history in-app or on our website. You can continue to travel using your contactless cards. We’re working hard to resolve this as quick as we can.

What's new

We have fixed some issues customers have reported to make the app easier to navigate
