Before the Series began, veteran Chicago sportswriter Warren Brown said he couldn’t select a winner because he “didn’t think either one of them could win.”
Although a total of sixty-one runs were scored in the Series, there were only three home runs, two of them by Hank Greenberg of the Tigers.

He did play-by-play of pro baseball, pro football, high school, college, AAU, and Olympic trials basketball (including NIT and NCAA national tournaments), covered PGA golf tournaments, and broadcast college hockey at NCAA championship levels. He offered personal anecdotes, plus interviews/conversations with a lengthy group of the brightest stars in major sports events.
