Terry is a teenage recluse mourning the loss of his parents when he rescues a nearly dead body hit by a speedboat from the deepest part of the cold mountain lake he lives on. After he revives her, she transforms into a beautiful 16-year old.

He thinks she is crazy when she informs him his parents aren't dead, but trapped underwater, and that she is a mermaid and his future girlfriend.

Terry finds out from her that he will turn into a merman when he turns 16, but that will be too late to save his parents.
