In the near future, Artificial Intelligence Command is created to police the flood tide of AI that had begun in the 2020's. Each field aibot is partnered with a human, and no one can apply for a job there. You're invited, or you don't get in.

Kohi Noyarikata is still not completely over his divorce from two years ago, which blew up after the death of his young daughter. Treading water at the San Francisco PD, he jumps at the chance of a career shift.

He has no idea that his whole life is about to change as he meets Kourai, his aibot partner and they begin investigating curious AI hacks, which increasingly seem to be connected, somehow, with him.
