About this audiobook

THE IMPERFECT PSYCHIC: A DUBIOUS DEATH is the debut novel in a charming new cozy mystery series by Ashley King.

Charlotte Vale, 30, a psychic from New York City, has a dubious giftā€”her vision, not always accurate, often leaves her customers more confused than happy.

When Charlotte, at a crossroads, gets a vision on what she should do next in life, she follows it, and it leads her to a quaint town upstate, her beloved cat and companion Oliver by her side. Quiet and peaceful, the town offers the exact escape she needed. And when her own vision leads her to a charming historic for sale, she spontaneously decides to buy it and follow her forever dream of running a bed and breakfast.

But Charlotte is in way over her head. Desperate to keep it running, she is forced to rely on her psychic abilities once again, and decides to open a psychic booth once again. Everything finally seems to be going her wayā€”when a shocking murder puts her right in the middle of the crime.

Now Charlotte must solve the caseā€”or lose her bed and breakfast, her clients, and her future.

A page-turning cozy mystery, packed with mystery, a touch of the supernatural and humorā€”THE IMPERFECT PSYCHIC is an un-putdownable cozy that will keep you turning pages (and laughing out loud) late into the night.

Charlotte is the most unlikable protagonist I've ever encountered. She's worse than Darren in the first three books of Cirque du freak, and that's saying a lot cuz I hate him in those books. Her ex was right she is needy and clingy and uses other people for support. But then she likes to pretend that she's independent and gets upset when anyone offers her reasonable advice. She's selfish ungrateful and judgmental. And dismissive of people trying to help. She will infuriate you.

I really enjoyed the audiobook. I found the story interesting and entertaining. I only have a couple of complaints...I think the author needs to invest in a thesaurus. the word" immediately" was seriously overused. I swear I heard it 7 times in less than 10 minutes. The pronunciation made it even more annoying " immegiately" come on narrator, there is no g in immediately and you also pronounced " blueberry" incorrectly, like blubbery but with a long u. As others have said the male voices were awful... especially at the climax..to put it bluntly..the voices sounded stupid at that point. Overlooking the narrator's mistakes, it was a very good book.

Four stars for the book, zero stars for the narration. The narrator ruined the enjoyment of a book with her attempts at a male voice. I tolerated the hacking of the boss's voice, but when the restaurant owner came into play, the voice she used really turned me off. It was horrible. I had to stop listening. This narrator would be better off not using fake male voices and using her own voice for all characters. I will read the entire book and add my review of the book alone to this review.
