About this audiobook

Whether you're a lifelong believer, a devout atheist, or someone who remains uncertain about the role of religion in our lives, this insightful manifesto will engage you with its provocative ideas.

With a close and studied reading of the major religious texts, Christopher Hitchens documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos. With eloquent clarity, Hitchens frames the argument for a more secular life based on science and reason, in which hell is replaced by the Hubble Telescope's awesome view of the universe, and Moses and the burning bush give way to the beauty and symmetry of the double helix.

In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris's The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion.

As an Atheist i found this book to be intelligent and well written. It's a breath of fresh air to hear the truth. Although I have witnessed in my lifetime Churches are everywhere but mostly empty as new generation after new generation realize that this book of fiction written by mortal men is actually kind of sick and perverted. And anyone that studies history knows how much blood has been spilled in the name of Christianity or in the name of God. But all religions are pretty much the same.

I had a great time revisiting this book. My grandparents bought the paperback for me when I was a teenager and I was instantly hooked, now I'm in my thirties listening to the audiobook at work and I'm hooked on his every word once again. They've both since passed, but they went into the unending void with courage no believer could EVER dare to muster. I can only hope to follow the example they (and Hitch) set for me.

Hitchens was one of the great outspoken, minds of atheism. He explained his disconnection to religion and the belief in a monotheistic world, clearly in this book. SUPERB!!
