About this audiobook

A small girl is sent to live with foster parents on a farm in rural Ireland, without knowing when she will return home. In the strangers' house, she finds a warmth and affection she has not known before and slowly begins to blossom in their care. And then a secret is revealed and suddenly, she realizes how fragile her idyll is. Winner of the Davy Byrnes Memorial Prize, Foster is now published in a revised and expanded version. Beautiful, sad and eerie, it is a story of astonishing emotional depth, showcasing Claire Keegan's great accomplishment and talent.

Nice things first. The audiobook narrated by Aoife McMahon is just exquisite !!! genuine, so enjoyable and endearing writing style. Disgusting things now. This comment from the author, something like " the reader's intelligence should interpret the end, etc ". Ok, this seemingly not so smart reader also thinks that there are some open endings, (like in Foster) which lead me to think that the author just got so, so entangled in the story that leaving an open end is so much easier. I am thankful for the experience on the Audiobook. I am angry at this ending which is similar as having bought a box of gourmet chocolates and finding out 30% were missing. There should be a legislation on this. Authors, do you want to leave open endings ??? Fine, so we readers should get at least a 30% discount to finish your work. Really, such a nice read and it seems from that there is Magic Realism here, very lousy indeed. Still, at this moment, couldn't care less.
