A Kappa is a Japanese water spirit, often depicted as a small, humanoid creature with a turtle-like shell and mischievous intent.

Sometimes deadly intent.

Jennifer Levy didn’t believe in them though. Kappas were a stupid myth her cousin used to frighten her with as a kid; a story she hadn’t thought about in years. Not until she shared the legends with a young boy named Dale Oberman.

Not long after, Dale went missing, and two teens that Jennifer argued with were brutally violated by an unknown assailant at a lake party.

These events point to Jen as a suspect.

When a cucumber—a kappa’s favorite food—is found at a new crime scene, Jen realizes the mystery is supernatural and the myth of the kappa may be real. If not, then someone knows about her story time with Dale and is trying to frame her.
