About this audiobook

Bridget Jones’s Diary meets Survival of the Thickest in Danielle Allen’s CURVY GIRL SUMMER, a smoking-hot, hilarious novel about the perils of online dating.

“There’s got to be an easier way than dating. I want the shortcut. I just want to find my person and start our lives together.”
After a one-night stand with her clingy ex, Aaliyah James has an epiphany: this ain’t it. She knows what she wants, and she’s ready to move past casual hookups, flings, and situationships.

But for her family, the clock is ticking—after all, she’s almost thirty. And when they imply that her personality (and her body) might be too big to land a man, she lets them know they’ve gone too far—and her (nonexistent) man loves her curves, thank you very much. Now, she has seven weeks to find the perfect boyfriend to rub in their faces at the big, fancy birthday celebration she’s been planning.

After her first blind date goes wrong, charming local bartender Ahmad Williamson consoles her with a drink and some playful banter. Aaliyah takes him up on his suggestion to use a dating app—but the more she sees of his warm, funny, and easygoing nature, the less she wants to check her DMs. Will her next swipe bring her closer to true love—or is her real match closer than she thinks?

A Macmillan Audio production from Bramble Books.

“𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙪𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 […] 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙪𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪.” Aaliyah wants to bring a date to her 30th birthday party. When she is stood up on a blind date, the friendly bartender talks her into trying out a dating app, and bringing all her dates to his bar so that he can look out for her, and so that she can feel more comfortable. I really enjoyed the premise of this book, and all her dates (which never really go all that well. 😂) The spice was spicing, thank goodness, because that burn was slow! There was so much tension between the two main characters, even if THEY couldn’t see it, I was just dying for them to figure it out! Ahmad was such a cutie, the perfect gentleman…most of the time….👀 Audiobook notes: Wesleigh Siobhan was fabulous! She gave a unique voice to each character, and she brought the perfect amount of humor and emotion to each performance. Thank you to @macmillan.audio for providing me an ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review. What this book is giving: ✅ Contemporary Romance ✅ Single POV ✅ Slow Burn ✅ App Dating ✅ Stranger Bartender to Friend to… ✅ Therapy Rep ✅ Plus Size Rep

I listened to “Curvy Girl Summer” by Danielle Allen, narrated by Wesleigh Siobhan, and it was Amazing! Spoiler Alert! Ahmad: “I need you to tell me what you want… The fact that I’m here should make it clear. The fact that I drove up to damn near every lake house looking for you should make it clear.” Aaliyah: “You drove… You DROVE…" Ahmad: “For you, YES! OMG I loved “Curvy Girl Summer”. I am in my 30s and I’m single and I want to be happily married. I know the stories of how folks found their husband, always seems to happen at random times. Not saying Aaliyah and Ahmad are married but they definitely met random. I loved how he always treated her with respect. Ahmad joked around but he was always the gentleman. I loved how he offered Aaliyah to have her first dates at the bar so he could look out for you. Just a gentleman. I loved how they both were dealing with grief and were real with each other. I loved how they became friends and the love just happened. I loved their passionate love making even though they never said they love each other…they definitely were making love. Much deeper than having sex. I loved how Ahmad made sure they were on the same page before he finished pursing Aaliyah. I loved how they both gained confidence. I loved how Aaliyah never changed for anyone even though her deadline of finding a man was getting close. I love how Aaliyah shared her feelings with her Parents and Uncle and put them in their place. I loved Aaliyah’s friends being the Amen Corner and I loved Ahmad’s friends being real with Aaliyah. I loved Ahmad’s Sister keeping it real with him and telling him the truth. I even loved the bad dates Aaliyah went on because this showed her what she does not want. I just loved “Curvy Girl Summer”!
