About this audiobook

"

How do you survive the death of a child?

Nine months ago, Tess’s five-year-old daughter was killed in a car accident. The driver, Brady Becker, was sentenced to two years in prison. It didn't make Tess’s pain go away.

Brady also has a daughter: A twelve-year-old named Eve who walks to Chandler Middle School every day. Tess knows this because she's been watching Eve for the last few weeks. It isn’t fair that Brady’s daughter gets to live, while Tess’s daughter does not.

When Eve goes missing, all eyes turn to Tess, who doesn’t have an alibi. But Tess isn’t guilty.

Or so she believes.

This isn't always an easy read; I admit to struggling with it at times. Nine months ago Tess's young daughter was killed in a car accident. The driver was jailed for two years. But Tess is struggling. The imprisoned man left behind a wife and daughter who Tess can't help but keep tabs on - every day. So when his daughter goes missing,k Tess is the number one suspect - even though she has done nothing wrong. Or, at least, that's what she believes. There is a lot of emotion in this one and it wasn't always an easy read - nor can I think it was an easy one to write. The death of any child is a tragedy and this young girl's death has taken it's toll on her parents' marriage. Whilst sympathising massively with Tess, there were times when she really tried my patience. I think the author did an admirable job with a difficult subject but it felt like a very long read - I would have guessed at double the length it actually is. Not an easy read by any means but the author has done a fine job in showing that there are two sides to every story although I really did not appreciate his words at the last, making the ending, for me, rather ambiguous. 3.5*.
