Over-the-hill former counter-culture SDS revolutionaries decide to turn bomb-makingâand detonatingâfrom a political statement to a profitable enterprise in the master Elmore Leonardâs electrifying and explosively funny thriller Freaky Deaky. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch calls Leonard, âthe worldâs greatest cops ânâ robbers novelist.â The Seattle Times says, âLeonard is more than just one of the all-time greats of crime fiction. Heâs fast becoming an authentic American icon.â No matter where you wish to place the man who created the character of U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, lately of TVâs hit series Justified, in the pantheon of mystery and noir detective fiction demigodsâJohn D. MacDonald, Dashiell Hammett, James M. Cain and the likeâthere is no denying that nobody does it better than the Grand Master Elmore Leonard!
Elmore Leonard wrote more than forty books during his long career, including the bestsellers Raylan, Tishomingo Blues, Be Cool, Get Shorty, and Rum Punch, as well as the acclaimed collection When the Women Come Out to Dance, which was a New York Times Notable Book. Many of his books have been made into movies, including Get Shorty and Out of Sight. The short story âFire in the Hole,â and three books, including Raylan, were the basis for the FX hit show Justified. Leonard received the Lifetime Achievement Award from PEN USA and the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. He died in 2013.
