About this audiobook

The 26-year-old Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin returns to Russia after spending several years at a Swiss sanatorium. Scorned by the society of Saint Petersburg for his trusting nature and naiveté, he finds himself at the center of a struggle between a beautiful kept woman and a virtuous and pretty young girl, both of whom win his affection. Unfortunately, Myshkin's very goodness precipitates disaster, leaving the impression that, in a world obsessed with money, power, and sexual conquest, a sanatorium may be the only place for a saint.

The Narrator in parts 1 and 2 had a slow but clear enunciation in a very satisfying English accent. The woman who took over in part 3 was actually terrible, unclear enunciation, a strange American accent and zero expression, almost like a bot. considered interrupting listening to the book because of this. Why change the Narrator halfway? bad idea.

The narrations on this version are pretty terrible. The book itself is great of course, but this audio version is grating and unnatural. Particularly the narrator that takes over at Part II. Part I was decent.
