The famous and much-loved Danish author Hans Christian Andersen celebrated his 200 anniversary the year 2005. On this occasion we have published five of his best tales retold for children aged 3-9 years: Tinderbox, The Little Match Girl, The Nightingale, The Emperor's New Clothes and The Ugly Duckling. Hans Christian Andersen wrote The Ugly Duckling in 1844.

About the author

Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875) was a Danish author. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, he is best remembered for his literary fairy tales. Andersen's fairy tales have been translated into more than 125 languages, and have become culturally embedded in the West's collective consciousness. His most famous fairy tales include "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Nightingale", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Match Girl", and "The Tinderbox".
