About this audiobook

#1 New York Times Bestseller * A New York Times Notable Book * An NPR Best Book of the Year

Holly Gibney, one of Stephen King’s most compelling and resourceful characters, returns in this chilling “exploration of grief and delusion, just pure undistilled evil” (New York magazine) as she uncovers the truth behind multiple disappearances in a midwestern town.

When Penny Dahl calls the Finders Keepers detective agency, hoping for help locating her missing daughter, Holly Gibney is reluctant to accept the case. Her partner, Pete, has Covid. Her (very complicated) mother has just passed away. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny’s desperate voice makes it impossible to turn her down.

Meanwhile, mere blocks from where Bonnie Dahl disappeared live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. They are the picture of bourgeois respectability: married octogenarians, devoted to each other, and semi-retired lifelong academics. But they are also harboring a shocking, unholy secret in the basement of their well-kept, book-lined home, one that may be related to Bonnie’s disappearance. And it will prove nearly impossible to discover what they are up to…for they are savvy, they are patient, and they are ruthless. Now Holly must summon all of her formidable talents to outthink and outmaneuver these unimaginably depraved and brilliantly disguised adversaries in this chilling and unforgettable masterwork from Stephen King.

Separation Anxiety I couldn't wait for this book... all about my favorite character. I put it on for my 5-hour drive, and I had to PULL OVER to turn this tripe off! I was having a PANIC ATTACK! If I wanted to listen to faulty information and LIES I would've called my liberal son or brother. All this country has done since 2020 is fight and separate! ALL I WANT IS PEACE!! I want to listen to a story, NOT CNN!!! I am so disappointed in King.

It is very political, but the story is from Holly's liberal perspective during a time when Covid was heavily in politics and was always in people's faces. Accurate to the times but a thorn in my behind, especially knowing the facts post mandates. It's a good book. You get to see the character development we've been hoping for Holly. It doesn't grab like his other books do, but it's classic King, designed to illicit a response.

This is a love letter to useless masks and ineffective dangerous vaccine . The first 15 mins it turns into a CNN segment . king has always thrown in a dig on conservatives and I have always ignored it and continued to buybthe books. It is now constant . Even if he was pro trump and it was the opposite I wouldn't want to hear this nonsense. SK loves Donald Trump he is so obsessed. I am republican and a nurse who worked through the whole covid inflated insanity. I took care of a whole covid unit of 17 in the delta stage . All were vaccinated . I was going to quit nursing if I had to be vaccinated with the clot shot. I don't want to hear his misinformation when he has no first hand experiences. I'm so sad he can't write without these fabricated political rants. I've never left a review . I love old King books . It's so disappointing I wonder if he even writes his own books anymore honestly .
