But she has let Antonia proclaim herself the new skopos. And Antonia has already proved herself a dangerous ally. The Aoi are divided between those who seek to rebuild and warriors determined to claim revenge against the humans. Stronghand, too, is consolidating his gains for his empire, drawn in part by the bond he still shares with Alain. And even as Liath seeks out the forbidden magic that could bring back the light of day, new alliances are forming and old ones being abandoned. Only time will tell who will emerge triumphant.

Kate Elliott is the author of more than twenty-five works of fantasy and science fiction, including a YA fantasy trilogy (begun with Court of Fives), the acclaimed science fiction novel Jaran, and a short fiction collection, The Very Best of Kate Elliott. Born in Oregon, she now lives in Hawaii.

A native of London, UK, Shiromi Arserio is a stage actor and AudioFile Earphones Award-winning audiobook narrator. She holds a BA in theater from Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance. In addition to narrating over 150 audiobooks, her voice can be heard in video games such as Nancy Drew: The Shattered Medallion.
