Locust and Honey
Plenty of material to chew on for the non-psychologist who is simply trying to learn more about the phenomenon of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. The comparison to stuttering is very intriguing, though not sure if that phenomenon is an exact parallel to OCD. In the case of some children, many stuttering issues self-resolve when others in the child's life simply slow down the conversational pattern enough and stop their own random mutterings and interjections enough to allow the child to speak and complete a full sentence. If the comparison is accurate, it makes one wonder if those with OCD were spawned into families with so much "hustle-and-bustle" that the child was never really fully listened to. Either way, if the author is correct, then, later in life, even coming from dysfunctional families, these children need to find their life's mission to come into their own and forsake their habits of self-doubt before moving forward!
