I knew this book was going to feed my soul when I read on page 4, "Why am I in such a rush to be somebody I don't even like?"Missing out on moments, juggling multiple tasks at one to not even complete one of them...I would feel accomplished(look how many tasks I worked on today!) until I went to lay down in bed with my Bible and all the incomplete tasks would swirl in my head. So, I would put down my Bible, get up, and do it again until my body was forced to hit the bed. I appreciate this book and pray that this book helps you in some way, as it has I. Very easy read, and I mean this in a beautiful way. I love how Mr. Comer relates the lessons to every day life. It felt like I had a friend sit me down and expressed the joy they received from eliminating hurry from their life. This book definitely hit me hard in more than one place, with the realization that the life I want is doable, to live like Jesus. Thank you, Mr. Comer. God be with you and your family.

Regardless of where you live, where you may fall on the enneagram diagram, your career, or even where you are spiritually… hurry is a core issue plaguing our daily rhythm. Doesn’t even just the thought of slowing down cause you to take a breath and instantaneously put your soul at ease? In The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry John-Mark addresses the call for human rest. He invites you to establish and live within structured pattern, gives you permission to say “no” when you need or simply even want to, he encourages you to exercise sabbath, and exemplifies the exceeding joy that we all often miss because we are caught in this fast-paced, buzz culture. This text truly could not have come at a better time for our desperate, anxiety riddled society. Much like the rest of John-Mark’s pieces, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry is full of digestible wisdom. As a fellow Portland resident and flawed enneagram type 1, John-Mark’s teachings to slow down have truly become a key element in my own therapy. And bonus: they’ve also been the cheapest element! Seriously, do yourself a favor and give this book a read. There is so much good for you to unpack here.

John Mark Comer is such a gift to this generation. His life, teachings and writings always have me leaving with so much to learn, and follow after. Though, it's not him, but the Life that he follows too. In this young adulthood season I am in, he has just been a huge encouragment and example as I follow the Way of Jesus. this book is a breath of fresh air and has wanting to make so many changes in my hurried life of instant gratification.
