I just love Lauren Layne's stories. They are so fun and have such great characters! Ian Bradley is our first Wall Street Wolfe. He is sexy, gorgeous, cocky and rich....all the things that make him delicious. Ian may have had a hard life growing up, but now he is a very successful man. On the outside most people see Ian as a cocky, playboy SOB, but to those who know him realize there is much more under that sexy, expensive suit. When Ian is investigated for insider trading, it is a shock to all his close friends and co-workers. But to Lara McKenzie, an SEC investigator, she is not shocked. As the daughter of two FBI agents, along with her dream to be in the FBI herself, Lara has seen his type many times, and she doesn't mind putting them in her place. Lara is told by her boss, Steve, that this case could be the break she needs to get into the FBI so she is determined to do her best to find the evidence that Ian is guilty. Ian is just as determined to prove his innocence. Too bad fate has other plans. As these two spend more time together, the sparks begin to fly and things become much more personal. I just loved Ian. Tall, dark, handsome, sexy and even funny....but underneath it all he has a heart of gold. He may be cocky, but most of that is for show. Lara was fun too. Such a by the book character who thought she liked he neat little world to find out that she was missing out on a big thing called life. Together they worked. It was such a fun trip they went on to get to their happy ending. I highly recommend this book!

Review of ebook Four and a half, hopelessly devoted to you, stars. In this delightful romance Lauren Layne returns to her New York roots with all of her old style and panache. Ian Bradley is the definition of a Wall Street hotshot: seven-figure salary, designer suits, and a corner office. An ambitious, whip-smart daughter of FBI agents, Lara MacKenzie is a rising star in fighting white-collar crime. Her latest case—the investigation of Ian Bradley for insider trading—could make her career. Sparks fly between Ian and Lara the very first time they meet and even though her investigation should make them mortal enemies, somehow the sparks keep flying. This has everything, big money, ridonkulously over-priced drinks, suave sexy men and a set up which could very easily become as dear to me as the Oxford series. Can I also say how much I love that Ian drinks my own favourite cocktail, the Negroni? Shame on Lara for calling it an old lady drink! I think what made me love this so much was not just the banter and the meet cute situations but also the tension of the SEC investigation looming over Ian. Who is the mysterious informant? what evidence have they got? As always with romance there are a couple of moments when our two protagonists fall out over a misunderstanding, sometimes in novels this is where I feel let down, the situation feels soooo manufactured that I feel it has metaphorical flashing lights yelling "coo-ee plot device over here". Nothing like that for Miss Layne, her misunderstandings fall naturally into the plot and her characters soon discover the error of their assumptions. More importantly, they don't keep repeating them. Overall, a fabulous return to her witty, sexy sparkling form by Lauren Layne. Loved it. loved it. loved it. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Oh man, Lauren Layne has done it again. I have a feeling the 21 Wall Street books are going to be some of my favorites. Hot Asset is one of my favorite books of Layne's to date and I can't help but wanting to go back and read it again already. Right off the bat, we meet manwhore Ian. He's a Wall Street egotistic, who isn't afraid to brag about how good his life is. The only problem? There is more to Ian than you think there is. There's a side to him you aren't prepared for. But it made him even better. Okay, back to his manwhore ways...most women can't resist him and one look at him and they fall... until the woman he meets in the company coffee lounge. Lara Mckenzie, oh how I loved her! This power house of woman was just what I needed. She's gorgeous, she's strong, she resists all of Ian's comments and kindly tells him, she isn't interested. Lara has a job to do... she's a SEC investigator, investigating Ian. Oh, did the story get good at that point. Everything about Ian and Lara was perfect. I couldn't help but love watching navigate their attraction, their complicated situation and how they achieved their happy ending. I can't wait for book 2 in this series of standalones.
