Acerca deste audiolibro

The earth trembled beneath Ruth's feet for a moment, then, all at once, she understood. The light in the attic window, the marked paragraph in the paper, and the death notices—why, yes, the Charles Winfield who had married Abigail Weatherby was Miss Ainslie's lover, and Carl was his son. “He went away!” Miss Ainslie's voice came again to Ruth, when she told her story, with no hint of her lover's name. Acerca do autor

In the first decade of the 20th century, Myrtle Reed was a bestselling romance novelist, poet, cook-book writer, Chicago socialite, and philanthropist. From childhood, Myrtle suffered from obesity and avoided the taunts of neighborhood children by remaining indoors, reading and writing. Although not encouraged by her teachers, she pursued a writing career and by 1896 had many stories, articles, and poems published. She self published her first novel, Love Letters of a Musician, and after its initial run of 900 copies sold out quickly, obtained a contract with a well-known publisher. Martha H. Weller has long been a fan of audiobooks, both as a listener and a reader with works on Audible and Librivox. She has a doctorate in French and also has a strong technical background in computer-based training and computer programming. Since her retirement from the University of Illinois (Urbana), she has had time to devote to her other passions as well: crafts and music.
