About this audiobook

Louisa Baldwin (1845-1925) was a British author of popular Victorian ghost stories. She spent much of her adult life as a bedridden invalid. Her hatred of idleness, combined with her imagination, led her to write. Her son was Stanley Baldwin, who became the British prime minister.

'The Shadow on the Blind' is a classic gothic ghost story. An old, abandoned house, Harbledon Hall, is rented by the Stackpoole family. Mr. Stackpoole's chief hobby is doing up old derelict country houses, including installing the latest fittings, such as electric lighting. Although they hear stories beforehand about Harbledon Hall being somehow haunted, the Stackpooles pay little attention to such rumours...after all, there is no such thing as a ghost.

But then on the night of the masked ball, several of the family have strange and terrifying experiences which are impossible to explain....
