THE #1 SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

TLS, OBSERVER, SUNDAY TIMES, FT, GUARDIAN, DAILY MAIL AND EVENING STANDARD BOOKS OF THE YEAR 2017

Sleep is one of the most important aspects of our life, health and longevity and yet it is increasingly neglected in twenty-first-century society, with devastating consequences: every major disease in the developed world - Alzheimer's, cancer, obesity, diabetes - has very strong causal links to deficient sleep.

In this audiobook, the first of its kind written by a scientific expert, Professor Matthew Walker explores twenty years of cutting-edge research to solve the mystery of why sleep matters. Looking at creatures from across the animal kingdom as well as major human studies, Why We Sleep delves into everything from what really happens during REM sleep to how caffeine and alcohol affect sleep and why our sleep patterns change across a lifetime, transforming our appreciation of the extraordinary phenomenon that safeguards our existence.

Includes a bonus PDF of graphs and diagrams.

'Astonishing ... an amazing book ... absolutely chocker full of things that we need to know' Chris Evans

'Startling, vital ... a life-raft' Guardian

this was a really interesting book, it did change my idea of the necessity of having a good sleep and more important sleep time. The does star a little bit slow to my like tho, but once it gets into the research results and benefits as well as the problems of sleep deprivation, it gets interesting! totally recommended.

If you want to learn more about sleep, listen to this audio book - the person reading it will have you out cold in no time. I can't get through 15 minutes without being lulled into an accidental slumber.

Fascinating and full of incredibly important information regarding sleep and how it affects us. Something we neglect because we're not conscious of it.
