About this audiobook

Cannabis is not only smoked! Discover in this audiobook the different methods for administration and dosage.

Consumption of cannabis in humanity began more than 4000 years ago. The first registered experience about its therapeutic use was in the classical pharmacopoeia, transcribed by the legendary founder of Chinese medicine, the Red Emperor Sheng Nung, in the 2.737 B.C; It was then when cannabis was adopted as an effective plan for reducing rheumatic pain, cold, menstrual and digestive disorders. Subsequently the use of the plant was entrenched in the East and progressively entered in western medicine, where it began to be used due to the therapeutic effects of relieving several symptoms and diseases.

The plant might be considered a great production machine. It’s been reported that its flowers synthesized more that one hundred exclusive compounds -known as phytocannabinoids- besides a great number of terpenes and flavonoids (which also have therapeutic properties), polyphenols, amino acids, among others; reaching the production of more than 400 different chemical compounds. Is well known that the highest psychoactive substance present in cannabis is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Between the effects this cannabinoid produces is relaxation, euphoria or sense of well-being and palliative possibilities, by cannabidiol (CBD) help, highlighting this last one for its therapeutic but no significantly psychoactive properties; so that it has been of much interest in studies and therapeutic applications.

It has been stated that any substance may be toxic in a dose high enough. Users of cannabis derivatives, like THC, have to start their administration slowly, until they reach the ideal dose. On their behalf, many patients can reach high doses of CBD without any detrimental effect on their bodies. To use cannabis in an effective way, you must consult a specialist who can establish, through appropriate criteria the respective dosage.
