About this audiobook

The eighth installment of the award-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling series. Join Michael and the Electroclan as a new threat arises even more terrible and calculating than the Elgen.

Michael Vey and his fellow members of the Electroclan were finally able to put the threat of the Elgen behind them and move on with their lives. Adjusting to the normal life of jobs and college may have been difficult, but they managed and are now looking forward to getting back together for a reunion during school break.

But what they don’t know is that Hatch and his glows—the other electric kids who continue to follow and support him—have another threat brewing. And having seen what the Electroclan is capable of, they ensure this new foe is more brutal and powerful than ever before. After a period of peace, will Michael and his friends be able to tap back into the full extent of their abilities and defeat their enemy?

This is a great redemption of the author to start the second series off, and even give them another enemy (or 3...). Now based on the multiple books I've read I'll assume the next few books will be about Saving Tara from the Jungle, Find/Saving Abigail from the Lung Li, and going against Jack (and the social brainwashing) finally having the 3rd sprout from the Tree Dream to emerge sometime between these books and the finale. The reason I rated it so low is that the writing is mostly bland/lackluster and cliché'd, but in either case it is pretty good for the introduction into the second incarnation of the series.

Even tho I feel like book 7 was a slightly disappointing end to the series, I still feel like I had a positive experience as a teenager with the series. Book 8 is a big drop in quality. Their are character assassinations, events happen that disregards information you know from previous books, and zero character development. A lot of dialog could have been cut and replaced with something better for us to understand our older main protagonists, I felt like the first few books did this much better. Please don't continue past book 8 and save your money (book 9 is somehow worse, and book 10 is only a little better, maybe). Please save your money and pretend that book 7 was the end of the series
