Seance - is a short story by the famous Russian writer, playwright and theatrical personage Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov (1891 - 1940). 

The story takes place in 1922 in one of the Moscow apartments, the owner of which, Zinaida Ivanovna Luzina, decides to arrange a séance. For the ritual, in which invited guests participate, an inlaid table was purchased; the respectable Mr. Xavier Antonovich Lisinevich agrees to perform the role of the medium. Before the start of the action, Zinaida Ivanovna urges the maid Ksyushka not to leave the kitchen and not to make noise.
