About this audiobook

A cyber operative searching for answers.

A reporter with a secret identity.

The story of a lifetime that brings them face to face.

Caiden Marx has had to put his personal sorrows on the back-burner since his high school sweetheart was believed to be killed by a drug dealer. The experience shaped him as a man, making him overly protective of women and children. That’s why he’s so incredible as a RAPTOR operative. But while on a mission in Las Vegas, Caiden sees a ghost, who seems very much alive.

Mia Gregory has lived on the run most of her life. Witnessing the murder of her mother at a young age taught her to stay hidden or die. As an adult, she’s vowed to ferret out those who bring harm to women and children, and shine a bright light on them. She never allowed herself to dream of finding her long lost love, or her brother in the same year.

Can Mia put her fear aside and allow Caiden to help her? Will they find love once again?

This is a standalone but part of a connected series. This book follows Caiden and Mia's story. They were high-school sweethearts until Mia just disappeared after the murder of her mother. For me, the reason Mia left is easy to understand, but why she stayed away once she'd had time to think and certainly once she'd grown into an adult was a mystery to me. Once I ignored this element, the rest of the story was very enjoyable. This book has a good mix of romance and suspense, there's an investigation into trafficking and we also see Mia and Caiden getting to know each other again. I liked all the other characters, they way they worked as a team really pulled you into the suspense - it certainly makes me want to read other books in the series and find out more about their stories. I listened to this book as an audio and the narrators did a great job. It was a duel narration, with each taking their respective chapters.

Caiden's girlfriend Mia disappeared at the same time her mom was murdered 16 years ago. Most people thought she was dead. Present day finds Mia reporting on a RAPTOR case. Caiden discovers she is HIS Mia and he is determined to get some answers. The romance was sweet. Working together, they took down her mom's murderer, who also had been exploiting young girls for 20 years. Troy Duran & Rose Dioro have done an excellent job narrating this entire series. I enjoy PJ Fiala's books and recommend!

*Righting the Past* 4.5 stars - The past has returned to Caiden, but not exactly willingly. I like the gentle way he re-enters Mia's world. And the story following is really good. I love how they reconnect & the road they travel to bring justice forth. ⚖️ I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Troy Duran & Rose Dioro. Yes, you guessed it. They do a good job, w duet being the only thing I believe could improve the experience. Story: 4.5 ⭐️ Narr: 4 ⭐️
