***** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW ***** I loved this story! It interestingly enough didn’t feel like a novella. It felt… full. Like it wasn’t lacking anything and I walked away feeling like I received a full story. I like the way Piper Rayne just jumps feet first into the main story and doesn’t give us a ton of back story. What we get is Marla, a woman who has moved home after a messy divorce with her four kiddos in tow to start anew. Hank is widowed and has been making his way with his five kids. These two are pretty smitten with each other and are ready to see where the future might go. However, two of those kiddos will not make this an easy happily ever after. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell narrated My Twist of Fortune and, of course, they are just as amazing as I’d expect from them by now. These are two narrators that audiophiles seek out since we have learned, from thousands of great listening hours, that it’ll be worth it! Arden was exactly what I envisioned for Hank. He’s strong and sweet… he has this soft side that is perfect for Marla and all those youngins. Mitchell did a fabulous job as Marla. I swear she had channeled exasperated mom’s everywhere when she spoke with her older son. It made me smile because I could feel that aggravation. Great job, both of them!

This is an amazing prequel to The Greene Family Series. OMG! This Family!! They all stole my heart! Hank and Marla's second chance to love is sweet and beautifully written. The characters, main and secondary, are well developed, and wonderful. Hank, a widower, and a great Dad of five kids, is handsome, and supportive. Marla, recently divorced, and a great Mom of four kids, is strong, and independent. Yes, you read it right, NINE kids, and they are awesome! As you can expect it, there are no dull moments in their journey! I love the family bonds in this Series. Marla's parents, and Dori and Ethel, Hank's Mom, are amazing supporting characters. This story is heartwarming, fun, and beautiful. IMPOSSIBLE to put it down. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell did an outstanding job with the narration. I love their voices together. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it! This is a great start to the Series, and I can't wait to listen to My Beautiful Neighbor, the first book in The Greene Family Series!

This is a prequel to the new series about the Greene Family. I'm so glad that Piper Rayne is giving us the story of the parents first so we know the backstory. Marla and Hank were good friends in High School but she ended up marrying Hank's cousin and moving from Alaska to Arizona. After Marla's divorce, she moves back to Sunrise Bay. When Marla and Hank see each other again, the sparks they denied in High School are there again. I loved getting to see this family in their early years and to see Ethel (Hank's mother) and Dori at the beginning, too. I read the book but the audiobook is so much better with the characters being brought to life by the great narration of Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell.
