About this audiobook

National Bestseller

Selected as one of NPR’s Top 100 Science Fiction and Fantasy Books of All Time

The #1 New York Times bestselling author’s wildly successful first novel featuring his new Neverwhere tale, “How the Marquis Got His Coat Back.”

Richard Mayhew is a young man with a good heart and an ordinary life, which is changed forever when he stops to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk. His small act of kindness propels him into a world he never dreamed existed. There are people who fall through the cracks, and Richard has become one of them. And he must learn to survive in this city of shadows and darkness, monsters and saints, murderers and angels, if he is ever to return to the London that he knew.

“A fantastic story that is both the stuff of dreams and nightmares” (San Diego Union-Tribune), Neil Gaiman’s first solo novel has become a touchstone of urban fantasy, and a perennial favorite of readers everywhere.

“Delightful ... inventively horrific.”

One of my favorite stories, well obviously Sandman is MY number 1 favorite, of all time... Of his novels though, I love it, I say this everytime I read a new story by him... I just love getting lost in the pages for however long it takes me 2 read, or listen too. That's never very long & I'm always disappointed when I finish them, because I'd like them to continue forever!

The book is wonderful. I really love it. what I don't love, are the drums and flutes that play before and during the first sentence of a chapter. It is utterly annoying, please stop putting that into the audio... I listen to books while I work so, I listen to chapter after chapter. Drums and flutes are the last thing I wanna strain to hear over for the words.

It's in a class of its own! I search endlessly for a book of the same caliber. American Gods comes close, but nothing captures the subtle, but fully developed view of the world in the same lens of an alternate reality.
