Clausewitzโs masterpiece,ย On War, is an exposition of the philosophy of war which is absolutely unrivalled. He produced no โsystemโ of strategy, and his critics styled his work โnegativeโ and asked โQuโa-t-il fondรฉ?โ What he had โfoundedโ was that modern strategy which, by its hold on the Prussian mind, carried the Prussian arms to victory in 1866 and 1870 over the โsystematicโ strategists Krismรกnic and Bazaine, and his philosophy of war became, not only in Germany but in many other countries, the essential basis of all serious study of the art of war.ย This edition contains all eight original volumes.
In the appendix of the printed book there is a section called "SKETCH OF A PLAN FOR TACTICS, OR THE THEORY OF THE COMBAT." This section has been omitted in this audiobook because if would neither make sense nor is it in any understandable way possible to reproduce.
