After the 2012 Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelization in the Modern World, Pope Benedict XVI resigned from the Roman Papacy. His successor Pope Francis took up the task of synthesizing the work of the Synod into this Apostolic Exhortation, teaching and exhorting the people of God to renew their commitment to the Church's great commission to evangelize the world. Largely inspired by the Aprecidia Conference of the Latin American Bishops, Pope Francis returns the faithful of the Catholic Church to recall the deep connection between their lives in community and in prayer. There cannot be social reform without deep prayer and a pursuit of mysticism and a commitment to making such faith public through works in the social realm of human life. Finally, in this Social Dimension of Evangelization, Pope Francis offers a renewed analysis of Social Teaching of the Catholic Church.
