Deputy U. S. Marshalls Skip Garrett and Terry McGreggor refuse to let the Feds or the local Highway Patrol stop them from pursuing the men suspected of murdering their friend, fellow officer and Mormon ward member, Wally Fuller. Three escaped convicts from Montana's Deer Lodge prison are the prime suspects, and Pete Miller is the worst of them. Pete, along with Carl Meeks and Jimmy Conklin, lead the marshalls on a dangerous chase through the Montana wilderness headed toward the Canadian border.
