Chip Connolly was a conscripted grunt in trouble. Here he was, stuck behind enemy lines with a bunch of cyber-uplifted rats and bats. Rats with human speech, but with rat values. So: he'd volunteered for a suicide mission. Of course things only got worse. The whole crew decided to come along. Seven rats, five bats, a galago, two humans, a sea-urchin-like alien and an elderly vineyard tractor without brakes . . . against several million inimical aliens. He was going to die. Mind you, not dying could be even more terrible. That girl might get him. Contains mature themes.

Dave Freer is an ichthyologist turned author who lives on Flinders Island (between mainland Australia and Tasmania) with his wife, four dogs, four cats, and two sons. He is the author of A Mankind Witch and the Dragon's Ring series and coauthor, with Eric Flint, of Pyramid Scheme and Slow Train to Arcturus.

Eric Flint is a modern master of alternate history fiction, with three million books in print. He's the author/creator of the multiple New York Times bestselling Ring of Fire series starting with the novel 1632. Flint was for many years a labor union activist. He lives near Chicago, Illinois.

James Fouhey is an actor and AudioFile Earphones Award-winning narrator living in New York City. He received classical training at Boston University and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. He has recorded more than 150 audiobooks across a variety of genres.
