About this audiobook

Cursed for his sins. Scarred by her past. Can love set them free—or will fate keep them apart?

Sophie Brannigan

Ten years ago, when I was eight, a raven rescued me from a fifty-foot plunge and a life of abuse. For years, the same bird stayed at my side like a best friend and protector. There was something special about him, but I had no idea just how unique he was until I found him in my room one night--in human form and irresistible. His secret comes with a price, though. Am I willing to pay?

Revan Chogan

Since the day I saved her life--both from a deadly fall and an abusive, drunken father--I've secretly hoped Sophie could break my curse. Two hundred years ago, a rival enemy's shaman doomed my tribe to live as ravens in retribution for our transgressions.

One day each month, during Ravenlight, the spell lifts and we assume our original forms. Instead of joy, though, being human is a reminder of what was lost.

Ravenlight twists the Brothers Grimm fairytale, The Raven, and is the first book in a standalone paranormal series that features time travel, ancient curses, and sweet romance. If you enjoy sexy shapeshifters, resilient heroines, and dangerous dream walks, then you'll love Ravenlight by Melissa Riddell.

Revan and Sophie are the two main characters in the book. Revan has kept a watchful eye on Sophie ever since he came across her when she was little and he and his family saved Sophie’s life. Sophie had a abusive father and some is detailed in the book at the beginning but I couldn’t help but want to protect herself. The book lapses through the time and when we see her again she is a adult and Revan shows himself to Sophie. Without, going into spoilers because honestly you have to read it to appreciate it but not all of it goes down smoothing. Sophie struggles with her past issues and she must come to terms of her past. I felt like the book was a bit rushed, but understand that it’s a book and some things will be rushed over. I enjoyed the spirit dream walk as that was very riveting. I list we to the audiobook and thought the narrator was okay. It was easy to follow along with the different voices and inflections used.

I love reading paranormal romance. This book is different than any other I’ve read. It is always great when the story is totally different than anything I have previously read. The story grabbed my attention right away and kept me engaged throughout. It progresses at a great pace. Narration is good and brings the story to life. Characters are well developed and interesting. The story is told in dual POV, so we can understand where both characters are coming from. The story wraps up nicely with no cliffhangers but a little hint of what might come in the next book. The book is fairly short with just under 4 hours of listening time. Perfect for people like me that enjoy listening to stories at one seating.
