About this audiobook

Silas Riley, Earl of Inglewood, is known among his peers in Parliament as the man made of stone. As a wealthy peer, there are few he trusts with his friendship. He guards his heart and his honor with vigilance, and when an accident nearly takes his life, he’s faced with a situation which threatens his standing in society.

Growing up in the shadow of her older brother, Esther Fox’s acceptance in his circle has been indifferent at best. So, when she ends up in a compromising situation as she saves the life of her brother’s dearest friend, the Earl of Inglewood, she is forced to marry him to save her own reputation. Once again, she finds herself accepted only because of the situation and not because she is truly wanted.

Neither are prepared for a loss, which further complicates their new relationship. With such a difficult beginning, can they ever hope to understand one another, let alone find love?

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet Regency romance! It captured my attention from the very beginning. A couple of quotes from this audiobook that seemed to sum it up are, "Could love come from loss . . . near strangers--bound together, but too far apart to come to know one another". Honestly this book moved me to tears as I identified with the true-to-life challenges Esther and Silas face. So well-written with a depth and richness of characters. I completely felll in love with Silas!

I really enjoyed this sweet regency love story. At times, I wondered if the female MC was ever going to get over her “no one loves me” mentality, but when the the male MC finally steps up, it was in such a good way. I will say, some moments also had me chuckling to myself with my headphones in, so I’m sure I looked like a crazy person while listening to it. All in all, I really liked the book and I look forward to read more of this series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily
