Marianne Dashwood wears her heart on her sleeve, and when she falls in love with the dashing but unsuitable John Willoughby she ignores her sister Elinor's warning that her impulsive behaviour leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Meanwhile Elinor, always sensitive to social convention, is struggling to conceal her own romantic disappointment, even from those closest to her. The story is excellent - one of my all time favourites - but unfortunately the recital on this version is not. The reading is so wooden I'm assuming it's a digitally created voice, and the frequent mispronunciations (it's Marianne, not Mary-Anne!) ruined it rather. That said, it's very cheap and just about bearable for that, but I would not buy another like this again.
