Are we in control of our lives? This story weaves threads through the spindle of a charkha. Spun from hard, humble hands of Gupta-jee, who does what he does best everyday - spin the charkha with cotton slivers.
The state and the people foment violence onto each other - are they separate or the same entity? Where does all the violence spiral into - if not peace? Are we the master of our machines or its slaves onto destiny?
The story brings the warp and weft of life in perspective answering the question with questions. And as you go further into its lines and between the lines, ask yourself - Do we really ever get to make a choice?

My books and writing are a learning experience unlike any other. While this foray into the wonderful world of literature has happened at a time in life when I am over 40 years of age, it now appears that it was a calling for the right time in life. Each of my writings are as a result of personal journeys and experiences rooted in the cultural context of our being. Especially the ones set in the geographical frame of India (and the sub-continent) are rooted in deeper philosophical understandings. While the ontological bias to a region may appear stark at first, beneath the layers exist a deeper relation of humanity with nature and existence itself. The research process, the cover designs and all the work associate were enjoyable for me and so were the friends I made along the way. I do hope to receive sufficient inspiration to keep writing and continue looking forward to it. I hope you enjoy reading these creations as much as I enjoyed writing them.
