About this audiobook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The stunning debut novel from one of the most creative artists of our generation, Bobby Hall, a.k.a. Logic.

“Bobby Hall has crafted a mind-bending first novel, with prose that is just as fierce and moving as his lyrics. Supermarket is like Naked Lunch meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest—if they met at Fight Club.”—Ernest Cline, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Ready Player One

Flynn is stuck—depressed, recently dumped, and living at his mom’s house. The supermarket was supposed to change all that. An ordinary job and a steady check. Work isn’t work when it’s saving you from yourself. But things aren’t quite as they seem in these aisles. Arriving to work one day to a crime scene, Flynn’s world collapses as the secrets of his tortured mind are revealed. And Flynn doesn’t want to go looking for answers at the supermarket. Because something there seems to be looking for him. A darkly funny psychological thriller, Supermarket is a gripping exploration into madness and creativity. Who knew you could find sex, drugs, and murder all in aisle nine?

Bobby tells us a story thats so raw and so honest. Flynn's life experiences is loosely based off Bobby's life in a beautifully crafted way. Each page has another story behind it. His writing style is personal, new, comical, and jolting, nothing I've really heard before. The connection to this book he has is reflected in the recording. The plot is creative, and not predictable until the very end which I didn't mind. The only flaw I could spot was thebending, it was a little fast and unexplained.

I am unfamiliar with the writer and his music, but felt I grew to know him, through his characters, while listening to his audio book. The writer narrated the entire book with the emotion, tone and clarity to convey it beautifully. There were a few moments where I thought the story might be predictable, but then was pleasantly surprised to encounter twists that changed my perspective. And perspective, after all, is what the entire book is about. Specifically about the writer, I come away with the feeling that he is legitimately an old soul. As cliche as that sounds, I hear a depth of wisdom and experience that surpasses his age in years. As an example, Mr. Hall's era-specific references. You'll find the references in Supermarket embrace a very broad audience. As a reader that graduated from high school the year the writer was born, I expected to remain an outsider to the story, even alienated by the inability to relate, but that was far from the case. The writing and narrating kept me fully engaged, almost to the point of becoming part of the story, from beginning to end. Looking forward to listening to his music, too. Well done and recommended!

The story is amazing. I was not expecting it to end the way it did but it didn't disappoint. It made me feel like I read watching a movie. 100% a absolute and necessary read. I don't normally read books but since I'm a fan of Bobby I had to buy this. This book just keep pulling me back because I wanted more and wanted to continue the story because it was so gripping. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good thrilling edge of your seat story.
