Sylvia Plath is widely recognized as one of the outstanding poets of the twentieth century. When her Collected Poems was published it won the Pulitzer Prize. Her only published novel, The Bell Jar, has become a modern classic. Linda Wagner-Martin was awarded the Hubbell Medal for Lifetime Achievement in American Literature in 2011. She has published more than sixty books, including influential literary biographies on Gertrude Stein, Sylvia Plath, Ernest Hemingway, John Dos Passos, Barbara Kingsolver, Toni Morrison, and Maya Angelou.
