About this audiobook

Jack London reveals the secrets of surviving as a hobo in the late-nineteenth century. Before he became a best-selling author, London spent time traveling on the railways of North America - catching trains, dodging conductors, spending time in jail, lying his way into meals and out of trouble. His experience formed the basis of his storytelling skills, and gave him an enduring compassion for the underdogs in society. The Road is a collection of essays and tales which chronicles this formative period in his life. Sometimes humorous, sometimes heartbreaking, but always compelling, The Road will take you to a forgotten chapter of North American life.

This is The Road before On the Road. It's funny and ugly and individualistic and crafty and bad and good and American and human. I can't imagine what it's like to be so far over the edge, and then to come back. "I became a tramp-well, because of the life that was in me, of the wanderlust in my blood that would not let me rest. Sociology was merely incidental; it came afterward, in the same manner that a wet skin follows a duckling. I went on 'The Road' because I couldn't keep away from it; because I hadn't the price of the railroad fare in my jeans; because I was so made that I couldn't work all my life on "one same shift"; because--well, just because it was easier to than not to"

Thank you for this helpful and insightful article and the great video. I am not a copywriter by trade, but maintain my own website, write an instructional/informational blog, and teach. I was steered here by my student advisor for a small business training program, and am glad that she sent me. As a service provider, it can be very difficult to figure out what people really want, and I fall into the group who are less comfortable interviewing and surveying. This technique is going to prove invaluable for shaping my services, refining my blogs and marketing, and -- most importantly -- reaching the people who will most benefit from my Pet Wellness
