Because Alikand might not be completely dead-and some people want to finish the job.

It's a fantastic ride all the way through, exactly what I love about this series. Max Gladstone knows how to have fun with his stories while treating such fun with a thoughtful, deft, and caring hand. I deeply respect sincerity in my stories and these are deeply sincere characters and the story is interested in them as people and all the context that makes them who they are. Context built from a wondrous, flawed, and dystopic world full of optimists being bled dry by the cynicism of everyone else. This was such a great read!
